Kirby vs. Bromley

In the epic battle of Kirby vs Bromley... Kirby has won numerous times. She mainly excels in the "sneak upstairs to go to the bathroom" division.

After several nights that Bromley had to endure the yelling, cursing, and scrubbing of the upstairs carpet... she finally found Kirby's weakness. Her blindness.

(oh yeah, our dog is blind)

A few days ago Bromley eagerly awaited the perfect moment. Kirby was enjoying playing in the backyard and ignoring her owner's continuous calls for her to come inside. Kirby only decided to make her way to the door when she heard the bribing sounds of her treat box being shaken inside. So, she takes off running from the back corner of the yard to come inside when.....

WHAM!!!!!

she runs into the side of the house.

The caring owners that we are of course did not notice any thing until I found my hand (and tile floor) covered in blood and immediately rushed into "nurse mode" trying to assess the situation.

My thought process:
She's bleeding.
She's bleeding from her eye. In her eye? Under her eye?
Oh great, I really hope her eye doesn't fall out.
What if she has to wear a patch? She's going to be a pirate dog.
Arrrrgh!

Luckily, after holding pressure under her eye for several minutes the bleeding stopped and I decided there was no need for stitches. She's fine and only has a small battle scar as a reminder.

Possibly unrelated, Kirby has not snuck upstairs to use the bathroom in the past few days....

  1. My vote goes for the eye patch- how cool would it be to have a PIRATE dog!! You could make her walk the plank into the lake whenever the heat wave arrives in a few months.

Wear that scar with pride, Kirbs!
